Where is James Bay?

James bay is the Southern part of Hudson bay in Canada.

 

Is it cold?

It certainly can be. In the winter it can get down into the 40 degree below zero. Surprisingly it can get into the 80s and 90s in the summer.

 

Is there perma frost or tundra?

No.

 

Which Canadian Province are we dealing with?

 

The West side of James bay is Ontario. The East side is Quebec. The islands in James bay are now part of the Northwest Territories.

 

Are there Polar Bears?

Yes, on the Quebec side in summer.

 

Are there cottages or development along the bay?

 

No. Not any to speak of. There are presumably outfitter camps but we did not see any.

 

Are there Eskimos?

 

Yes, the Inuit Indians are considered Eskimos. They do camp down in this region.

 

How expensive is Gasoline is this region?

 

Very expensive, expect to pay 3 to 4 times as much as in Upstate NY.
